Canva has made Affinity completely free to download and use, removing all cost barriers for professional designers. What was once a premium alternative to Adobe is now accessible to everyone at no charge.
Affinity is no longer split between Designer and Photo—it's now a single, unified application. This streamlined approach gives you all the tools for both vector design and photo editing in one seamless workspace.
All TheVectorLab.com graphics, templates, and textures created for Affinity 1 and 2 remain fully compatible with the new version. You can continue using your existing resource library without any conversion or compatibility issues.
With its free price tag and enhanced feature set, Affinity is poised to attract a significant influx of designers from other platforms. This growing community means more tutorials, resources, and shared knowledge for all users.
The new Affinity includes a vector Image Trace feature—a long-requested tool that wasn't available in previous versions. You can now convert raster images into editable vector paths directly within the application.
If you want to switch your previous TheVectorLab orders to Affinity format (or back to Adobe), just reach out through the website contact form. I'll handle the conversion so you can work in whichever software suits your needs.
The new Affinity is currently available only for Mac and Windows—there's no iPad version yet. However, given Canva's track record of delivering excellent iPad versions for Affinity 1 and 2, we can expect the new iPad app to be just as polished when it arrives.
If we're lucky, it might even include robust vector drawing tools that could eliminate the need to sketch in Procreate and then Image Trace afterward—allowing for a complete vector workflow directly on iPad.
